Thursday November 10th, is a special day for Apple users. Why? Because, on Thursday Apple has released their first update to the new IOS Version 5, IOS 5.0.1.
The update from Apple includes multitasking gestures for the original iPad, bug fixes with Documents in the Cloud and improved voice recognition for Australian users. The largest update however for most of us is a fix for bugs which were affecting the battery life of all devices running iOS 5.0 iPhone 4S users in particular.
In addition, many users have noted iOS 5 resulted in a decrease in battery life, with some iPhone 4S users noticing drastic loss of charge throughout a day. A number of features were suggested as possible culprits, including a bug in iOS’s automatic time zone functionality, location services, and more.
iOS 5, for the first time, allows you to update your device without connecting it to your Mac or PC. To do so, go to Settings -> General -> Software Update, and then tap the Download And Install button. As of this writing, not all devices are showing the update. Alternatively, you can still connect your device to your computer and perform the update via iTunes.
iOS 5.0.1 is compatible with iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation) and iPod touch (3rd generation). Please update yours now. If you need ipfw files, you can download iOS 5.0.1 ipfw on that site
