Before you assemble the computer, usually you will see some of the terms associated with one computer components, such as a processor. To better understand and know about the workings of a processor, here are some terms you should know, some of which are:
ALU (Arithmetic and Logical Unit): is the processor that performs mathematical calculations and actual data.
CPU (Control Processing Unit): is a mechanical component that provides mechanical and electrical connection between the device and PCB. The use of the CPU socket allows the replacement of CPUs without risk of damage to the board, for example the installation on board by soldering.
Data width: is the width of the data from the ALU unit. An 8-bit ALU with the capacity to perform operations on two numbers at once and usually twice in one activated. While the 32 bit ALU can operate on 32-bit numbers. In terms of execution, an 8-bit ALU must execute four instructions directly to add speed to be generated.
Over clocking: is the process to improve the performance of the CPU in units of a certain value. It is intended that the CPU is able to work at a higher capacity than normal. However, often this activity (over clocking) can damage to your CPU.
