When I hear that Barracuda Networks becomes an Open Invention Network Licensee. In exchange for agreeing not to assert any of their own patents against the Linux software ecosystem, Barracuda will gain royalty-free access to the significant collection of patents held by OIN—which includes the Commerce One web services patents.
Like we all know, Big Internet Company Google was join Open Invention Network Licensee, “Linux plays a vital role at Google, and we’re strongly committed to supporting the Linux developer community,” said Chris DiBona, Google open source programs manager.
By becoming a licensee, Barracuda Networks has joined the growing list of companies who are supporting OIN to ensure Linux-based and open source Intellectual Property (IP) protection. Barracuda Networks joined OIN to help secure the future of Linux by building a legally protected environment where developers can innovate freely. A large number of Barracuda Networks’ products utilize the Linux Operating System.
When I try to search on Open Source community, I found that Barracuda Networks is an active member of the open source and free software communities, donating hardware, code, funds and other resources to fuel open source technology innovation and collaboration.
