Yahoo Online Status Plugin For WordPress

My previous post said that I had setup a forum for WordPress using Simple Forum plugin by Andy Staines. This post is still about the plugin for my forum that is to show the Yahoo Messenger (YM) status of online admin to provide online support for forum members.

The plugin to handle this job is writen by Huda Toriq. This plugin worked as expected and has many features, such as:

  • Support for multi YahooID
  • Allows you to custom your own status image

allow_url_fopen and or cURL extension shoud be enabled on the server to run this plugin.

Yahoo Hosting Does Not Support Separated Subdomain Email

I have a Yahoo Small Business account and for many reasons I want to set up mail server for my sub domain (ie: mysub.mydomain.com). My main domain mail (mydomain.com) is hosted at Yahoo because I believe that Yahoo server is have less downtime and power outage (CMIIW) :D

I tried to add and MX record (for subdomain) at domain control panel but got no result. Nslookup returned that no MX record found for my subdomain. Even I waited for the next 24 hours (in order to provide much time for new NS record broadcast), still no result for the MX record.

After got stuck for more than 2 days, I contacted Yahoo Support and they said that I can not set my own MX record for the subdomain, unless I want to manage all mails to my server. This is not what I want. I just want to manage emails for subdomain.

My correspondence with the support continued and after talking with the technical team, they send me email said that this feature is not yet available :(

I have three options now: host emails at Yahoo, or manage my own mail server, or not using email for subdomain. Mmm..

Any suggestions?

Ads On Adobe PDF Documents?

Yahoo is now testing their new advertising program to give publishers an alternative to conventional way of serving ads. This program called Ads for Adobe PDF. Adobe PDF Powered by Yahoo is opened for publishers, offering placement and tracking of contextual ads alongside Portable Document Format content.

How the ads will looked like on Adobe PDF? Text-based ad units will be displayed in a panel within the PDF documents and the units are static. They will not affect user’s reading experience. Relevant ads wil be displayed based on the subject of the document, each time the PDF is viewed.

This new method will extend advertiser’s market place. Same as other pay-per-click ads, Ads for Adobe PDF gives Yahoo advertisers anotherl distribution channel that can reach highly specific audiences based on reading interests.

You need to register first to join on this program either as publishers or content owners. After joining, you may upload your PDF documents into the Ads for Adobe Powered by Yahoo site or submit the URL of the site where the PDF documents exist.

If you are are content owners, just wait for this ads system to be launched soon. While waiting, you can check the sample here.

Yahoo! Mail Final version is nice

This morning I login to my Yahoo! Mail account, and I got some new interfaces, and Aha, this is the final version of Yahoo! Mail. I love the blue one. If I try to compare between the beta version with the final. I prefer love the final. They colour, they icon and they menu is more easy read and I love the speed. I think on the final version Yahoo! Mail team was improved they speed.

I was grab the screen shoot between beta version and my Yahoo! Mail final version.
